SAN ANTONIO (McNeese Athletics) - UIW scored the game’s first 12 points then held off a second half McNeese rally to cruise to an 83-61 Southland Conference win here Wednesday night.
The Cardinals’ Keaston Willis, the league’s top scorer at just under 20 points per game, finished with 28 on the night while as a team, UIW (5-5, 2-1 SLC) sank 16 three-point field goals, one less than the amount McNeese attempted.
McNeese (6-6, 0-3) was led in scoring by Carlos Rosario’s 19 points after he knocked down 8 of 9 from the field. KeyShawn Feazell added 17 points, 13 of those coming in the second half.

LAKE CHARLES – A.J. Lawson scored 24 points while Carlos Rosario added 19, Collin Warren 15 and Dru Kuxhausen 11 as the McNeese Cowboys closed out pre-conference action on Wednesday night with a 91-76 win over Champion Christian.
The win improved the Cowboys’ record to 6-3 overall and 6-0 at home in Burton Coliseum. McNeese will open up Southland Conference play on Saturday against Central Arkansas in Burton Coliseum at 4 p.m. and will follow a 1 o’clock contest between the two women’s teams.
Pokes Get A Big Win Before Conference Play This Saturday
The Pokes topped Champion Christian College 91-76 to end their back-to-back game series.

The Cowboys are now 6-3 overall heading into Southland Conference play starting this Saturday as they host Central Arkansas. Tip-off is at 4:00pm at the Burton Coliseum. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive free tickets.

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese returned to the hardwood following a 10-day break from its last game and responded by having six players score in double-figures, led by a career-high mark of 16 points by Jeremy Harrell as the Cowboys ran away with a 94-36 win over Champion Christian on Tuesday night.
The two teams will meet up again on Wednesday night at 6:30 in Burton Coliseum in the final game before Southland Conference play gets started on Saturday at home against Central Arkansas.

LAFAYETTE (KPLC) – McNeese dug itself an early hole against Louisiana-Lafayette here Saturday night, trailing by as many as 20 points, but the Cowboys battled back and cut the deficit to 2 with under 10 minutes to play in the game, but UL Lafayette knocked down crucial 3s and hit free throws when needed to post a 75-65 win over the Cowboys.
The loss snapped McNeese’s three-game winning streak and dropping its record to 4-3 on the season. UL Lafayette won for the sixth straight time and improved to 6-1.
