Bowling: Coldwater splits with Pennfield, Quincy beaten by Napoleon

BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater bowling teams split with Pennfield on Wednesday at M-66 Bowl. The Coldwater boys took a close win 15 1/2 to 14 ½ while the Coldwater girls suffered their second loss of the season as they were beaten by Pennfield 17-13.   The Coldwater boys split the regular games, winning game one 940-880, losing game two 855-848, but they took totals 1788-1735. They also split the Baker games, winning game one 197-166, losing game two 193-131, and losing totals 359-328. Coldwater was led on the night by Dayten Yearling with games 221 and 237 for a 2 game total of 458, Austin Johnson chipped in with a 201 game.

Quincy bowlers split with Homer at University Lanes

Courtesy Quincy Community Schools Facebook page ALBION, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy bowling teams split their matches on Wednesday with Homer at University Lanes. The Quincy boys lost a close 16-14 match. Homer powered through their 9th and 10th frames on singles to capture the win by just eight pins. The match saw Quincy come out on top of Baker play with all 10 points as Quincy edged Homer 174-172 in game one and 193-174 in game two. Caden Moore, despite throwing a solid 221 in game one would drop his point as would Brandt Neely with a 201 game. Their totals kept it close for the Orioles who notched points with Tyler Short throwing a 145 and Brodie Mainstone rolling a 176. Cody Neusbaum would chip in 128 as Quincy fell 871-872. A hot start from Moore, who struck the first five frames pushed Quincy to an early lead. More would go on to shoot a 198 capturing his point. Short again scored for the Orioles with a 173. The varsity boys fell 27-3 as the Warriors took both Baker games and 7 out of 10 singles matches. Brandt Neely led the Orioles with a high game of 220 and a two-game series of 391. The varsity girls saw their first action of the season and lost 24-6 despite taking the second Baker game. Carlie McKinley rolled a 267 series in singles to pace Lady O’s.
