WHIZ News Arrest Made in Human Trafficking Case A Tuscarawas County man is under arrest for felony charges following an investigation by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said 44-year-old Chad Robert Ryan, of Dover, was arrested May 8 and charged with compelling prostitution, attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and possessing criminal tools. The Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force, created under the attorney general’s Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission, became aware of Ryan’s intentions to purchase sex with a mother and underage daughter. With assistance from the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio Investigative Unit, the task force investigated and ultimately arrested Ryan in Columbiana County.

Special to the Journal YOUNGSTOWN One of the men arrested last fall in a coordinated effort to arrest those attempting to have sex with minors was sentenced Friday to one year in prison. Jason Walker, 39, East Ninth Street, Salem, appeared at a hearing before Mahoning County Common Pleas Judge Anthony Donofrio. Court records show Walker had pleaded guilty Feb. 24 to charges of attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, importuning / soliciting an adolescent and resisting arrest. A charge of possessing criminal tools was dismissed. Walker is one of 14 men arrested in Mahoning County last October as the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force and Sheriff Jerry Greene’s office participated in Operation Autumn Hope.

The Seneca County Sheriff’s office says a 25-year-old faces a number of charges following a Facebook Marketplace scheme, and that there could be additional victims. Deputies say on April 29 around 3:15 p.m. they arrested Carol A. Ziglar, 25, of Cortland on an arrest warrant related a scheme to defraud. Altogether she faces a charge of scheme to defraud and seven counts of petit larceny. It’s alleged that Ziglar placed advertisements on Facebook Marketplace in an attempt to sell property.
