For the past few years members of the Verrazano Kiwanis Club and “Wreath’s Across America,” whose mission is to “Remember, Honor and Teach” by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and at more than 2,100 additional locations in 50 U.S. states and abroad have partnered to raise funds for veterans and their families.
For the 2020 holiday season the Verrazano Kiwanis Club and The Carl V. Bini Foundation partnered to purchase and install a 30-foot flag pole in the name of U.S. Army Sgt. Christopher Slow.

A formal visitation is not scheduled; however, friends and family may pay their respects at the funeral home through noon Sunday. Due to the pandemic, it
is requested that those attending the service wear a mask and practice social distancing.

VAN WERT – Donald O’Day, age 44, was arrested on Tuesday after
fleeing from Van Wert Police, resulting in damages caused to gravestones
at Woodland Cemetery.
According to police, on Dec. 22 at
approximately 3:45 p.m., The Van Wert Police Department received a call
of a possible drug deal witnessed at Walmart parking lot, involving a
red Mustang. The caller gave the temporary license plate number.

A Van Wert County man faces a number of charges related to an attempt to flee and damage to headstones in Woodland Cemetery.
Donald O’Day
Donald O’Day, 44, a resident of Tully Township, was charged with failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a felony of the third degree; operating a vehicle while impaired, his fourth OVI in the past 20 years; and vandalism, a felony of the fifth degree, as well as several traffic citations.
According to the Van Wert Police Department, dispatchers received a call at approximately 3:45 p.m. Tuesday of a possible drug deal in the Walmart parking lot involving a red Ford Mustang. The call also provided a temporary license plate number.
