A combined safety and paving project in Stafford County is starting this week to slightly widen shoulders and deliver a smoother travel surface on several secondary roads in the Hartwood area.
Improvements will be underway along Route 612 (Hartwood Road), Route 614 (Spotted Tavern Road) and Route 614 (Cropp Road).
When work is underway, motorists can expect mobile lane closures and one-way, alternating traffic. Work will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Mondays through Saturdays.
Widening work will begin first on a three-mile section of Hartwood Road between Spotted Tavern Road and Poplar Road. Work is starting on Monday, April 26, and is anticipated to be underway along this section of Hartwood Road for several weeks.

STAFFORD, Va. (WWBT) - Police say a 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged after stealing a vehicle and leading police on a pursuit.
On Jan. 12, at 3:39 p.m., a deputy noticed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed in the area of Warrenton Road and Stork Road.
After activating the vehicle’s emergency equipment to do a traffic stop, the vehicle did not stop and made an abrupt U-turn on Warrenton Road in front of upcoming traffic.
