To get to the Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site near Eads, where 230 Native Americans were murdered, you might drive through a town named for their murderer.
In between Eads and the turnoff, you’ll go through the unincorporated town of Chivington. It’s named for Civil War-era Col. John Chivington, who led the attack by the 1st and 3rd Colorado cavalries on Arapaho and Cheyenne living at Sand Creek that resulted in the slaughter. Half of those killed were women and children.
While Chivington may be an extreme case, dozens of sites around Colorado have taken on names that are now getting a new look as calls for equality grow louder amidst Black Lives Matter protests.

The procession route for fallen Toledo Police Officer Brandon Stalker, killed last Wednesday in the line of duty, has been released. Road closures will begin at 6am Tuesday through late afternoon. The funeral begins at 10am Tuesday in Savage Arena, open to family and law enforcement only. To show your support, Toledo Police encourage you to line the procession route at noon Tuesday. The procession ends at Toledo Memorial Park for private services.

Schools respond to alleged hair-pulling incident at girls basketball game
A viral video and an incident during a basketball game that left a Norwalk student-athlete injured, likely never to play basketball again.

follow-up report by our sister station WKYC, it was revealed the Norwalk player suffered a severe concussion from the incident and her father said she will likely never play basketball again. The Norwalk girl and her family publicly accepted the apology from the Bellevue girl involved and forgave her.
