The CBI has registered an FIR against unnamed public servants and three private individuals for fraudulently empanelling their newspapers for government advertisement on the basis of forged documents.
Officials today said the case was registered after the CBI conducted a “surprise check” at the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP), now known as Bureau of Outreach and Communication (BOC).
“In one of the cases, it was found that six newspapers two editions each of the Arjun Times, Health of Bharat and Delhi Health were empanelled with the DAVP for getting government advertisement,” said a CBI official. It was found that no such newspaper was being published from the address of the printing press mentioned in the newspaper, nor the chartered accountant had issued any certificate. The said publications received ads worth Rs 62.24 lakh between 2016 and 2019. TNS
