Vote in this week s high school Players of the Week Poll (June 7-11) Cape Cod Times Welcome to our latest Cape Cod and Islands high school Players of the Week Poll! High school sports fans can vote for a girls athlete and a boys athlete they believe were standouts during the previous week. The polls will be open from Monday through Friday. The winners will be announced every Monday along with the new poll. The Times will also write a short feature about the winners. Players of the Week winners for the week of June 1-4: BOYS Ben Conlon takes home the crown.

Dennis Port MA: Union Warf Road condo fire displaced four families

Cape Cod Times DENNIS PORT – A two-alarm fire at a condominium building on Union Wharf Road displaced four families early Tuesday morning. Firefighters received a report of a fast-moving fire at 75 Union Wharf Road at 12:26 a.m., Dennis fire Chief Robert Brown said in a statement. Two units caught fire in the 2½-story building. Brown said the fire started in the basement and made its way through the floors of both units and extended up the back of the building. The units were occupied by 11 people and a cat, but only two people were initially accounted for by police, according to the statement.

Mashpee voters return Cotton, O Hara to Board of Selectmen

Mashpee voters opted for continuity at Saturday s annual town election, as John Cotton and Thomas O Hara were reelected to new terms on the Board of Selectmen. Cotton, the board s current chairman, led all candidates in the three-way race for two seats on the board with 1,136 votes. O Hara, the board s vice chairman, received 932 votes. Marie Stone garnered 861 votes in her bid for one of the board s two seats. Voters also passed 1,445-217 the lone question on the ballot Saturday seeking a debt exclusion to fund the first phase of the town s wastewater treatment project. At a cost of $54 million, the first phase calls for construction of a new wastewater treatment plant adjacent to the town’s solid waste transfer station off Asher’s Path, as well as sewering from Butler Lane and Drew Lane south to Yardarm Drive and along Route 28 and Quinaquisset Avenue.
