By Wed Apr 28 2021 The Nasarawa State Government, on Tuesday, solicited the support of its citizens in budgeting, with a view to tackle the challenges facing various communities in the state. This, the government said, was also to improve the standard of living of the people across all communities in the state. Mr Haruna Ogbole, the State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Planning, made the call at a town hall consultation meeting on citizens’ budget participation in Keffi, Keffi Local Government Area of the state. The town hall meeting, which was organised for the Nasarawa West Senatorial district, had as its theme: “Social Pact with the People : The Way Forward for Greater Development.”

Dr Ibrahim Adamu, Director of Public Health, Ministry of Health, said this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Tuesday, in Lafia. NAN reports that the state’s Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, had earlier, on Tuesday, confirmed the delivery of 61,000 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines to the state. Adamu said that he was the first healthcare worker in the state to be vaccinated, adding that many were still being vaccinated at the time of filing this report.

TODAY Pool Photo Nasarawa State Government said it has spent over 15 billion Naira for construction and remodelling of classroom blocks in primary and junior secondary schools in the state in the last 8 years. Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Muhammed Musa Dan’azumi gave the figure in an interview with journalists in Lafia. Mr Muhammed Dan’ azumi said the amount covers construction, rehabilitation and remodelling of 3,612 blocks of classrooms as well as provision of boreholes, toilet facilities, learning materials and furniture to the schools . He pointed out that the funds were grants from the World Bank Assisted Projects and counterpart contributions by the state government between 2012 and 2019.
