A two-vehicle collision left one person dead and sent another to the hospital early Wednesday morning.
Around 2:30 a.m., officers were called to a report of an injury traffic wreck at the intersection of Mooney Boulevard and Walnut Avenue. The intersection is the most traveled in the county and is near the Visalia Mall and popular In-N-Out, both of which were closed.
Two vehicles a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck and a Honda Pilot SUV collided at the intersection.
Investigating officers said the driver of the Honda was westbound Walnut and drove through a red light at Mooney. The SUV broadsided the Chevrolet, which was southbound on Mooney.

At 4:08 a.m., police responded to a report of a stabbing in the 900 block of East Myrtle Avenue, near Seven Oaks Park.
When officers arrived they found a victim suffering from a stab wound. The victim was rushed to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment. As of Friday, the victim s condition was unknown.
Police didn t say what sparked the violent encounter or if the victim knew their attacker. Violent crimes detectives took over the investigation. No arrests have been made and a suspect description wasn t released.

A 27-year-old man accused of attacking a Visalia officer was shot and killed, according to police.
Around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called to a home in the 1200 block of North Conyer Street for reports of a family disturbance.
Family called 911 to report the suspect was trying to break in and that he was armed with a knife. Several relatives were involved in the disturbance, Capt. Candido Alvarez said. Alvarez didn t say how the suspect is related to the residents who live at the home. As soon as our first officer arrived on scene, he was confronted by this individual with a knife. He began charging toward the officer, Alvarez said. The officer did his best to remove himself from the situation and talk to the male individual to get him to comply. However, (the suspect) refused to do so.
