Creative Young Visitor Project encourages children to engage with key heritage sites throughout Co Roscommon

The innovate Creative Roscommon Young Visitor Project aims to encourage families and young children to celebrate and explore a series of outdoor heritage sites in the county through a collection of fun and creative resources. The project is being launched this week by Roscommon County Council to coincide with the reopening of outdoor heritage sites under revised Government guidelines from today, Monday, April 26.
The project which is aimed at primary children throughout the county has been developed by Roscommon County Council, through the Creative Ireland Creative Communities Jobs Stimulus Measure 2020. Through a collaboration with artist Catherine Fanning and writer Maura Gilligan, the Young Visitor Project features a number of resources including drawings, stories and information which are available as printable downloads on www.visitroscommon.ie.

Limerick landmarks set to go green for St Patrick s Day

FÁILTE Ireland is supporting the greening of several locations across Limerick city and county throughout March to mark St Patrick’s Day this year.
Local Authorities applied to Fáilte Ireland, as part of a competitive process, for support to assist local St Patrick’s Day festival organisers in the locations identified for this greening project.
The organisers will also benefit from support for marketing content, website improvements and long-term festival development plans.
This activity is in addition to the greening of Heritage sites and State buildings announced this week by the Government in association with the Office of Public Works (OPW) and the St. Patrick’s Festival Organisation.

Sharon Shannon, Hermitage Green, MuRli and Emma Langford will take to the virtual stage for the Wild Atlantic Edge concert St Patrick s night.
That afternoon, Grammy award winning musician Rhiannon Giddens will lead the Virtual St Patrick s Day Fling , which promises to be once in a lifetime unique event.
The festival, which runs from the 13th to the 20th of March, will be streamed via Limerick.ie and their social media pages.
Limerick’s young musicians will also be showcasing their talents from the Irish Chamber Orchestra’s Sing Out with Strings and the Irish Chamber Orchestra Youth Orchestra, and Music Generation Limerick City.
Limerick St Patrick s Festival returns with a line-up of virtual events

LIMERICK people at home and abroad are being invited to mark St Patrick s Day by taking part in this year s virtual Limerick St Patrick’s Festival.
Limerick City and County Council, with the support of Fáilte Ireland, has created a festival programme of events and fun family content that will be broadcast online and on social media on March 17.
The headline event is Wild Atlantic Edge – Music, Conversations and Songs from Limerick City.
Working in partnership with Dolans, the event will feature some of Ireland’s most celebrated musicians including Sharon Shannon, Hermitage Green, MuRli, Emma Langford and a host of surprise special guests.
