Mr Andrews began his career in politics in 1999 when he ran for a spot on Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, later serving as a TD from 2002 until taking a break from politics in 2012 and working as the CEO of charity Goal.
Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael hold six seats each in Cavan, followed by Sinn Féin with three seats. Independent Ireland, Aontú and an Independent make up the remainder, with one seat each.
