BOULDER Boulder Beer Co. is rolling out a new image and a new style as it seeks to reinvigorate itself as a staple in liquor stores and in bar and restaurant taps, but the brand won’t be bringing its brewing or taproom presence back to Boulder. In a statement Friday, the state’s first craft brewing company said it will restart distribution to 28 states and five different countries as part of an effort to rebrand the state’s first craft brewery after a hiatus that lasted longer than a year. Good River Beer files for bankruptcy but contract brewer will keep brand afloat

Good River Beer Co. has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection, but the beer will keep on flowing.
Denver-based Sleeping Giant Brewing, which has already been contract brewing Good River’s products, is one of the company’s largest creditors and will be taking over the Good River brand.
“Good River beers will remain on the shelf,” Sleeping Giant founder Matthew Osterman said. “The company’s filing is simply part of a restructuring within the brand.”
Osterman said Sleeping Giant will continue production of Good River’s brews “indefinitely and uninterrupted.”

Oskar Blues Brewing Americans stopped heading to their favorite breweries, bars and restaurants in 2020, and instead started buying their booze to go. As a result, the demand for aluminum cans went through the roof, creating a massive capacity shortage. Breweries which were now relying on cans as a lifeline to stay in business scrambled to keep them in stock. One of the most creative ways was simply to wrap unused cans in new labels, something that a few of the state s bigger breweries, including Oskar Blues and Ska, began doing right way. Talk about re-gifting! A few others followed, creating a strange-looking but brilliant way of making do in a pandemic economy.
