Protest - members of the Great Oakley Action Group Villagers are gearing up to protest against a “catastrophic” influx of new housing amid rising concerns over road safety. Residents in Great Oakley are hitting out out against plans for 98 homes on land off Beaumont Road. As well as attending the public consultation, villagers will be protesting outside the village hall with banners. It comes after a development of 51 eco-homes was approved on land near the village allotments in 2018. But the new proposals, by Great Oakley Developments, have been slammed by villagers, including Caroline Lindsay, from Harwich Road, who is spearheading a protest group.
A diaspora of Hoosier politicos in DC made big job moves this week, a sign of the enduring and sprawling political networks forged by former Vice President Mike Pence and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
This week, the former vice president launched a new political advocacy group, Advancing American Freedom, ahead of a possible 2024 presidential bid, and added a half dozen former boldface names from the Trump administration as advisers, including former White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway and CMS Director Seema Verma.
Meanwhile, Pence s nephew, John Pence, a former Trump campaign official, joined the public affairs group of Ice Miller LLP, along with former national deputy political director for Pete Buttigieg s presidential campaign.

“No amendment to the Constitution is absolute. You can’t yell ‘fire’ in a crowded movie theater and call it freedom of speech. At the very beginning, you couldn’t own every weapon you wanted to own … certain people weren’t allowed to have weapons.”
