Lorna Home opens for hospital level dementia residents in Timaru

Residents from the soon to be closed Talbot Park care facility are being readied for a move to the new $2.2 million Enliven Lorna Home wing at The Croft Rest Home complex in Timaru. Work on the project started in late 2019 and was completed recently after being interrupted in 2020 by Covid-19. It was officially opened on Friday and blessed on Monday by Te Rūnanga o Arowhenua upoko (head) Tewera​ King and Presbyterian Support South Canterbury (PSSC) chaplain Reverend Alan Cummins​.

Sky Studios Elstree partners with Elstree Screen Arts Academy

Students from Elstree Screen Arts Academy met with Sky Studios COO Caroline Cooper on site to sign a piece of steel, that will become part of the structure of the first studio erected on site The developers behind the Sky Studios complex in Borehamwood have partnered up with a college for a nine-month project to celebrate Elstree & Borehamwood’s rich film and TV heritage. As part of the partnership, students will create four, ten-minute documentaries centred on the new Sky Studios Elstree project, with each documentary looking at a particular theme; film & TV heritage, sustainability, diversity & inclusion, and the construction process itself.

Each class will develop their skills and help them progress their films.  When it opens in 2022, Sky Studios Elstree will house 13 sound stages, creating 2,000 jobs in the local area. It is expected to attract £3bn of production spend over the first five years of operation alone.

Witnesses said a man holding a sword or machete-like blade approached the Petro-Canada station on the corner of Ogilvie Road just after 3 a.m. Though it is a 24-hour operation, the doors are locked after 11 p.m. and he was unable to enter the convenience store attached to the gas service.
