He told RTE s Prime Time: The vaccination programme is rolling out, and it has been effective to date. We’ve achieved our targets in terms of vaccination, that should be acknowledged. We ve basically administered what we have received in. The variant is a problem, and in terms of the variant or the mutation of the virus we have to look differently in terms of how we manage that.

A FAMILY who watched from a window as their mum died from Covid in a nursing home have told of their fury that government failed to learn from the mistakes of the first wave.
Figures provided to the Dail’s Health Committee show 1,543 people have died from Covid in nursing homes since the pandemic began almost half of all Covid deaths in Ireland.

Blackrock Abbey Nursing Home has confirmed the number of residents who have died from Covid-19 has risen to 14.
It comes as the Irish Times reported the death toll at the nursing home near Dundalk had risen after six residents were originally said to have passed away from the virus.
Management last week confirmed that a number of residents had passed away since the beginning of January, with the outbreak infecting half of all residents.

The number of residents with Covid-19 to die at Co Louth nursing home has risen to 14 with one man dying more than a week after receiving the first dose of the vaccine.
Blackrock Abbey near Dundalk has said that it is through the worst of the outbreak with just two of more than 30 residents who had the virus left to complete their 14-day isolation period.
The number of deaths at the privately owned nursing home has risen from six last week.
