CONWAY, S.C. â Junior forward Aja Blount scored a season-high 30 points for Coastal Carolina, but her standout effort wasnât enough as Appalachian State pulled away in the second half for a 72-58 win in a Sun Belt Conference womenâs basketball game Wednesday night at the HTC Center. Appalachian State was led by junior guard Brooke Bigott, who had a career-high 23 points, including five three-pointers in the third quarter alone as the Mountaineers took control.

CONWAY, S.C. â Despite 19 points from junior forward Aja Blount, Coastal Carolina could not withstand a late rally by South Alabama in a 61-56 Sun Belt Conference womenâs basketball loss on Sunday afternoon at The HTC Center.
Coastal led the contest 42-38 heading into the last period, but thatâs when USAâs Savannah Jones went to work. Jones made back-to-back three-pointers and made another trey in the Jaguarsâ 9-0 run that made the score 53-44 and put them in front to stay. Blount and senior guard Kaylin West keyed a late CCU rally that fell just short, leaving Coastal winless in the Sun Belt with its eighth loss and a 3-9 record overall.

MOBILE, AL â The Coastal Carolina womenâs basketball team finally returned to action after a 28-day hiatus on Friday evening, as the Chanticleers fell on the road 68-57 at South Alabama in Mobile, Ala. in the Chantsâ Sun Belt Conference opener.
The difference in the contest was in turnovers, as the Chanticleers turned the ball over 21 times which led directly to 27 points for the Jaguars who also totaled 73 shot attempts compared to Coastalâs 57 field goal tries.
