(DARREN RATHWELL / iNFOnews.ca) February 15, 2021 - 9:15 AM The investigation into the Howard Johnson Motel murder in Kamloops continues, with RCMP remaining on-site to canvass witnesses. They are also asking for the public’s help with its investigation into the murder of a man Saturday night. “This homicide occurred early in the night at a time when many people are usually still awake,” Const. Crystal Evelyn, a spokesperson for the Kamloops RCMP said in a press release. “If anyone saw anything suspicious at all that they think may be related to this investigation, please contact us right away. Maybe you saw someone hanging around the area who caught your eye, or maybe it was someone running away in a hurry around 8 p.m. when the call came in – if you think that something you heard or saw may be related, please let us know.”
February 14, 2021 - 9:49 AM While responding to a shots fired complaint at a Kamloops motel Feb. 13, Mounties found themselves at the start of a homicide investigation. Kamloops RCMP responded to the shots fired call at the Howard Johnson Motel in the 500 block of Columbia Street Saturday night and, in one of the units, the man who they ve yet to identify was found dead. Based on the preliminary investigation this event appears to be targeted and related to the illicit drug trade, RCMP said in a press release. The Serious Crime Unit has taken over this case, and along with members in Frontline Policing they continue to collect evidence and information during these early stages of the investigation. There is currently no one in custody in relation to this shooting.
