The dashboard also indicates that 125 of the CNMI’s total cases were identified through travel testing, 11 through community screening and 25 through contact tracing.

CNMI identifies COVID-19 community spread with 8 new cases

The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands this weekend reported community spread of the COVID-19 after going months with none. The Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. and the governor s COVID-19 Task Force confirmed a total of eight people from a community cluster tested positive for COVID-19. During a press conference Saturday, Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. Chief Executive Officer Esther Muña said the 147th case is a front-liner and was identified through outbound travel testing Friday. The individual did not show any symptoms and had already been fully vaccinated. She said even if someone is fully vaccinated it doesn t mean a person won t get the virus. The 147th case is not a traveler, but has a history of being in contact with those arriving in the CNMI, she said.

2 more Covid-19 cases; contact tracing continues

TWO additional individuals have been confirmed positive for Covid-19 the Governor’s Covid-19 Task Force and the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. said on Monday. Within the recently identified community cluster, a total of 10 individuals have been confirmed positive for Covid-19. The cluster brings the CNMI’s total confirmed cases to 156 since March 28, 2020. There were two fatalities in March and April 2020. The two additional cases were identified through expanded contact tracing and testing on redundant platforms, the task force and CHCC said. Both individuals are safely in quarantine and are asymptomatic. All positive cases and close contacts are isolated and in quarantine away from the community, the task force and CHCC added.
