13 cases of COVID-19 identified in quarantine since Friday Pacific Daily News Ten new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 832 tests performed by the Department of Public Health and Social Services on Sunday and additional labs since Friday, according to the Joint Information Center. Since Friday, a total of 23 cases of COVID-19 have been reported, including 13 that involved recent travel and were identified in quarantine, according to JIC. Three cases were identified through contact tracing.  To date, there have been a total of 7,879 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 136 deaths, 48 cases in active isolation, and 7,695 not in active isolation.  One person is in the hospital with COVID-19.

Guam Public Health plans to vaccinate migrants 16 and older

A new mobile effort to test and vaccinate members of the island’s regional migrant community could start as soon as this weekend, giving COVID-19 vaccine shots to residents who are members of a church group, according to the Department of Public Health and Social Services. Because regional migrants have been identified as a high-risk group, with a disproportionately large number of COVID-19 deaths, vaccines during the outreach will be administered to everyone 16 and older, according to Public Health. Vaccine eligibility for other Guam residents will remain the same, which currently is 50 years and older, although residents 40 and older also will be eligible, starting Thursday.

CNMI identifies COVID-19 community spread with 8 new cases

The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands this weekend reported community spread of the COVID-19 after going months with none. The Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. and the governor s COVID-19 Task Force confirmed a total of eight people from a community cluster tested positive for COVID-19. During a press conference Saturday, Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. Chief Executive Officer Esther Muña said the 147th case is a front-liner and was identified through outbound travel testing Friday. The individual did not show any symptoms and had already been fully vaccinated. She said even if someone is fully vaccinated it doesn t mean a person won t get the virus. The 147th case is not a traveler, but has a history of being in contact with those arriving in the CNMI, she said.

Teacher at Notre Dame High tests positive for COVID-19 Staff Reports Notre Dame had no scheduled classes today. The school’s seniors had a Mass and ring ceremony at 9 a.m. at the Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral-Basilica as scheduled because the seniors weren t exposed to the teacher who tested positive. The teacher didn t acquire the virus at the school, an archdiocese news release stated.  By law, neither the school nor Public Health will disclose the individuals with COVID-19, the release stated.  The archdiocese has initiated its mitigation plan and is working with the Department of Public Health and Social Services on contact tracing. The school will coordinate testing for students with possible exposure, which is limited to students in the teacher’s class, the release stated.
