BMW’s modern ‘MINI’ has gone from strength-to-strength. In fact, since 2001, more than five million models (3-Door Hatch, 5-Door Hatch, Clubman and the Electric) have been built at Plant Oxford, all on the same production line.
In all, three UK plants have a part to play in MINI production today – Hams Hall near Birmingham makes engines and Swindon produces the body pressings and sub-assemblies, then it all comes together at Oxford with body shell production, paint and final assembly.

Over the past two decades MINI has built over 5 million cars in the UK. Plant Oxford currently builds the MINI 3-Door Hatch, MINI 5-Door Hatch, MINI Clubman and the MINI Electric, all on the same production line.

Price increase and more standard gear across British brand’s hatch and cabrio range, from $37,500
MINI Australia has bumped up prices for its 2021 MINI 3-Door and 5-Door Hatch and Convertible range to reflect increased levels of standard equipment brought with the updated models now available.
The 2021 MINI Hatch and Convertible range now starts from $37,500 plus on-road costs for the MINI Cooper Classic 3-Door, with improvements across the board extending to more personalisation options (at no extra charge), better driver assistance and more in-car tech.

Opening the line-up is the trio of Cooper models, available in all three body styles, and three equipment grades: Classic, Classic Plus and Mini Yours.
All Cooper models are powered by 1.5-litre turbo petrol three-cylinder engines, sending
100kW and
220Nm to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. 0-100km/h times vary from 8.2 to 8.8 seconds, while combined fuel use claims span from 5.6 to 6.0L/100km.
Standard equipment on the Classic includes LED headlights and tail-lights, cloth/leatherette seat trim, an 8.8-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, a 5.0-inch digital instrument display, a Piano Black interior, reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, automatic parking, wireless phone charging, and Mini logo puddle light projection.
