New York AG investigating after Rochester Police fatally shoots man

During the interaction, Mura says police shot into the vehicle, striking the suspect. A white man in his mid-20s was killed according to Mura. Herriott-Sullivan said at least one other person was with the victim when he was shot. Herriott-Sullivan said someone at the scene had a gun in their possession and a gun was recovered. She said she could not share further details. Herriott-Sullivan said at least nine shots were fired in total, but could not specify if all were fired by police or if the suspect fired at all. Herriott-Sullivan stressed that she still has not reviewed all of the video and evidence from the scene.

Bello, police leaders to make announcement on Monroe County mental health services

(WHEC) Monroe County will boost staffing for its Forensic Intervention Team (FIT), which is called to mental health scenes by law enforcement, County Executive Adam Bello announced Tuesday. During a briefing Tuesday, Bello said the team will now have 28 full-time employees, an increase of 18 new employees. He said the move will help connect people in need of behavioral health support with treatment, and reduce the need for interaction with emergency responders. Bello was joined by Deputy County Executive for Health and Human Services Corinda Crossdale, Undersheriff Korey Brown, Fairport Police Chief Sam Farina, and Office of Mental Health Director Dr. April Aycock.

Tyshon Jones, 29, was shot and killed in front of the Open Door Mission on Wednesday after police say he charged at an officer with a large knife. The press conference will be held at the Spiritus Christi Church at 4:30 p.m. on Fitzhugh Street. Speakers will include Tyshon s family and lead pastor of the Spiritus Christi Church Rev. Myra Brown.
