(AP) A man was fatally shot by Rochester police early Friday after officers pulled a vehicle over as part of a separate shooting investigation, according to police. The unidentified man was shot at about 4:30 a.m. on Glasser Street after officers pulled over a vehicle that had been seen on cameras leaving nearby Lyell Avenue shortly after a gunfire-detection system activated there, Police Capt. Mark Mura told reporters. “Our officer pulled up behind the vehicle, made a traffic stop of the vehicle, and a short time later, shots were fired,” he said.

Li © Provided by NBC News Rochester police responded to reports of shots fired near the 500 block of Lyell Avenue at 4:21 a.m. ET and spotted a vehicle seen on camera leaving the area where the shots were fired, Capt. Mark Mura told reporters. Officers caught up with that car less than a half-mile away, near Glasser Street, when the deadly confrontation unfolded, authorities said. They attempted a traffic stop of that vehicle, Mura said. A few minutes later shots were fired and unfortunately the individual in the vehicle has been pronounced deceased.
