School districts in Fairfield, Waterville and Skowhegan report new cases of COVID-19

In a letter published Wednesday on the Fairfield-based district’s website, Superintendent Roberta Hersom said that a person at Lawrence Junior High School had tested positive for the disease.
The Department of Education and the Center for Disease Control & Prevention have not identified any close contacts, according to Hersom.

FAIRFIELD Superintendent Roberta Hersom announced Tuesday a person associated with Benton Elementary School had tested positive for COVID-19.
In a letter posted to the district’s website, Hersom wrote that there have been no close contacts identified in the case.
“I am writing to inform you of a positive case of COVID-19 at Benton Elementary School with no other individuals at the school identified as close contacts,” Hersome wrote. “The MDOE and the Maine CDC were notified.”
Additional case of COVID-19 reported at Lawrence High School in Fairfield
In a letter on the district s website posted Friday, the superintendent said that an individual at Lawrence High School has tested positive for the coronavirus.

An additional case of COVID-19 has been reported within Maine School Administrative District 49 at Lawrence High School, the superintendent said in a letter on Friday.
Last week, an outbreak was declared at the school after a third case of COVID-19 within a three-day period was identified Jan. 4.

The superintendent in Maine School Administrative District 49 has reported another case of COVID-19 at Benton Elementary School after an outbreak was declared at the school last week.
In a letter posted Sunday to the MSAD 49 website, Superintendent Roberta Hersom wrote that another positive case of COVID-19 had been confirmed, bringing Benton Elementary School’s total case count to four.
MSAD 49 serves the towns of Albion, Benton, Clinton and Fairfield.

“I am writing to inform you of another positive case of COVID-19 at Benton Elementary School that was confirmed today,” Hersom wrote. “Principal (Brian) Wedge was in contact with the Maine DOE, and I have notified the Maine CDC.”

Waterville Schools Superintendent Eric Haley emailed the school community Wednesday saying deep cleaning will be done starting Wednesday in the adult community education wing, where students and staff enter and exit only from that department and do not mix with the high school population.
