At least 3 school board incumbents lose to well-funded newcomers in Portland suburbs

Incumbents faced challenges from newcomers with expansive war chests in school board races across the metro area Tuesday and partial returns show at least three sitting board members lost to well-funded opponents as of 9 p.m.
Campaign finance records show incumbents in Washington County raised about $54,000, close to one-third the $142,000 their challengers did.

Students around the area will have an opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine during clinics held at school.
The vaccine is not mandatory, but is being offered to students who are 16 years of age and older. Students who are 16 and 17 can receive the vaccine with parental permission. Those who are 18 years old do not need consent from a parent.
The clinics are being offered through a joint effort with Horizon Public Health, Sanford Health Broadway Clinic and Alexandria Clinic, a service of Alomere Health.

OAKLAND, Calif. - New state and federal Covid safety guidelines that reduce the recommended minimum distance between students from 6 feet to 3 feet should make it easier for California schools to return students to classrooms full time, but most districts are not likely to make the change until the fall.
Instead, many district officials contacted by EdSource expressed reluctance to make changes to instructional models this school year because most have either reopened or plan to reopen campuses in the next few weeks.
