A coach and a longtime teacher at Phillipsburg High School were suspended over a blackmail attempt to influence their tenure hearing.
Warren County Prosecutor James Pfeiffer said wrestling coach Dave Post, 36, and longtime math teacher George Chilmonik, 74, threatened a district employee that they would release embarrassing information about that employee if they did not advocate for their interests in front of the Board of Education.
Chilmonik and Post were arrested on Monday. They made their first court appearance on Tuesday and released, according to LehighValleyLive.com. They were ordered by a judge to have no contact with the target of their threats, each other or the media.
Lac qui Parle Valley Schools choose new superintendent
The Lac qui Parle Valley School Board has voted to hire a high school principal from Roseau Public Schools as its next superintendent.

At a Monday meeting, the board voted to hire Ivan Hirst, currently the high school principal and athletic director at Roseau Public Schools.
The board will be negotiating a contract with Hirst, according to a news release. The contract could be approved at the April 26 regular board meeting.
Hirst is expected to start working in the district July 1. He will succeed Superintendent Greg Schmidt.

BILLINGS - A Billings School District 2 employee is on administrative leave pending the review of an incident and an investigation, according to Superintendent Greg Upham.
âWe have an employee on administrative leave,â Upham said by phone Friday morning.
Upham says the circumstance surrounding the incident that led to the action is a âpersonnel issueâ and couldnât provide many other details beyond that.
But he did say the incident is considered to be ârecent.â
Upham said the employee has not been terminated and couldnât provide details regarding the school or position of the employee.
