Sharjah: Sharjah City Municipality (SCM) has undertaken a series of steps to to improve and develop the building system in the emirate, raise efficiency of buildings, and increase their quality and lifespan.
The municipality has carried out several development studies and held many engineering conferences, lectures, workshops and seminars towards this end.
Thabit Al Turaifi, Director General of Sharjah Municipality, said that the municipality is among the oldest municipalities in the country, dating back to 1927. It has a long-standing database since the first building permit was archived in 1961 that includes detailed data for each building from the beginning of its establishment, the stages of its implementation until the stage of completion and the issuance of a certificate of completion.

SRINAGAR, Mar 10: People across Kashmir are facing problems in commuting owing to bad road surfaces, with the authorities claiming that the restoration work on the snow-damaged road will begin in a week.
The roads across the Valley are giving a tough time to the commuters as the majority of the roads are strewn with potholes and ditches. The commuters complained that the condition of the roads worsened during the winters, giving them a harrowing travel experience.
“The dust emanating from the uneven road surface affects our health. Besides, the bad road surface directly impacts the movement of traffic and often causes traffic snarls,” Mohammad Amin, a commuter, told Excelsior.

Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) has announced the extension and part refurbishment of Bush Post Primary School in Dundalk.
Mr. Martin O’Brien, Chief Executive of LMETB, has confirmed that he has got approval from the Department of Education to go to tender for the extension and refurbishment of Bush Post Primary school, located on the Cooley Peninsula.
Mr. O’Brien confirmed that this was one of several very significant developments which are being managed through LMETB’s Land and Buildings Department.
Ms. Sinead Murphy, Head of LMETB’s Land and Building Department described the completed extension and refurbishment as state of the art, bringing a new lease of life to the school.
