After 56 gruelling days, the abducted students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have been released by bandits,
The PUNCH has learnt.
The PUNCH in a telephone interview on Wednesday.
He said, “Yes, they have been released. They are on their way from the forest where they have been kept for the past (over) 50 days.”
On March 11, 2021 bandits invaded the school located in Afaka along the Kaduna International Airport Road and abducted 39 students.

Security operatives have escorted students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation in Kaduna State to pick their belongings and vacate the premises.
The students arrived at the school on Saturday morning on military trucks while some parents were on the ground to receive their children and take them home.
Shortly after their arrival, a mild drama played out as three female students fainted on sighting the school.
The students collapsed to the ground as they were said to be suffering from the psychological trauma they went through when bandits attacked their school.
An attempt by armed bandits to kidnap students of the Turkish International Secondary School in Kaduna State was thwarted on Friday, the Nigerian Army has said.
Acting on a tip-off on the impending abduction of the school children in the Rigachikun area of the state, troops of Quick Response Force of 1 Division of the army quickly mobilised to protect the school from the bandits.
Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima, who is the Director of Army Public Relations, disclosed this in a statement.
While the troops were securing the school, the army spokesman said another distress call was received that bandits had stormed the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation in Afaka.
