United Way of Northern BC’s (UWNBC) Tree of Lights campaign is a Christmas tradition in Prince George that raised over $30,557 this year, beating their goal of $30,000.
Each year, UWNBC places a 60-foot tree atop the Coast Prince George Hotel by APA in downtown PG.
“It’s a testament to the heart of Prince George and Northern BC, and we are so honoured to be able to do the work we do to support those who need it most,” said Trista Spencer, Executive Director of UWNBC.
All donors today will be eligible for prizes. The goal of the Tree of Lights campaign is to collect $30,000 to fund programs and services to tackle the problems of drug abuse and overuse and improve mental health and well-being of those in need. So far, $15,300 has been collected, 53 per cent of the goal. The first 200 people who drive through and donate today will receive a McDonald’s hot chocolate and candy cane, while the first 50 vehicles will get $10 Mr. Mikes gift cards. All donors today will be entered in a draw for an Escape Platinum Bluetooth speaker/FM radio, a $50 gift certificate from Tim Hortons, a $50 Panago Pizza gift card and a $100 gift certificate from Northern Hart Designs.
