Beach Avenue eastbound roadway reopens with new fixed bike lane

The previous temporary configuration completely closed the eastbound direction for vehicles since last spring. But with the new roadwork, vehicle traffic has now been restored eastbound between Denman Street and Pacific Street. This has also allowed TransLink’s No. 23 Beach/Main Street Station bus route to resume service on the eastbound direction of Beach Avenue, ending the prolonged detour along Davie Street. Upgrades to popular waterfront road completed in Vancouver

VANCOUVER More than a year after the City of Vancouver closed a waterfront road to vehicle traffic in one direction, work is now complete allowing cars back in the area. Last April, part of Beach Avenue from Denman to Pacific streets was closed to eastbound traffic in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. A section of that road was closed to make room for a protected bike lane that, in turn, gave more room for pedestrians to maintain physical distance on the nearby seawall. Last summer, that roadway was the busiest cycling route in Vancouver, the city says, with more than 10,000 cycling trips made per day.

Roadwork scheduled around Lake Tahoe for week of 4/25 - 5/2/21

Each week we publish projects planned by the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), the County of El Dorado and the City of South Lake Tahoe. Until May, road work in the Lake Tahoe area will be limited. NDOT - Lake Tahoe and Douglas County Road Closed - on SR-88 in both directions from Mottsville Lane to Mackland Avenue in Douglas County Nevada. Local traffic will be allowed to animal hospital and local ranches. Emergency vehicle traffic will have access bypass. Estimated End Time is 6:00 AM on 04/26/21
