The local train service in Mumbai was open for limited hours for the general public before the onslaught of the second wave.
However, in the wake of the second COVID-19 wave, the local trains in Mumbai were closed for the general public. Later, on June 21, Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Vijay Wadettiwar had said that the general public won t be able to commute in Mumbai local trains till the pandemic is over.
