Homeless Outreach Coordinator Is Coming to San Clemente San Clemente’s homeless community is expected to receive more support with the hiring of a new community outreach worker. City council voted unanimously to add the position to its social services team during a Feb. 16 meeting. “I think it’s a good first step toward a comprehensive addressing of our homeless issue,” Councilmember Chris Duncan said during the meeting. San Clemente had 145 homeless people in the city as of 2019, according to Orange County’s most recent Sheltered Point in Time Count. The coastal city’s newly approved community outreach worker will help San Clemente coordinate social services efforts and engage in outreach with those experiencing homelessness, the city said.

New partnership in Danville offers local residents help obtaining health insurance

DANVILLE, Va. — The COVID-19 pandemic has left hundreds of thousands of Virginians without jobs and health insurance coverage. Project Connect, a special new partnership among the Virginia Health Care Foundation (VHCF), the Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission (TRRC) and the Danville Regional Foundation (DRF) has just been launched to help many local residents obtain needed health insurance from the state. The Commission and DRF have provided funding to VHCF for an Outreach Worker who will provide 1:1 application assistance to families and individuals interested in obtaining state coverage. Effective immediately, Francina Jones at Danville-Pittsylvania Community Services is available to provide information about Virginia’s Medicaid program and to help people apply.
