No more waiting on a new head coach for the Detroit Lions. Former New Orleans Saints Assistant Head Coach and Tight Ends coach, Dan Campbell was announced as the 30th coach in the teams 90 year history. Campbell also becomes the teams 5th coach in the last 5 years. 3 coaching changing happened last season after the firing of Matt Patricia where Offensive Coordinator Darrell Bevel would take the reigns until his COVID-19 diagnosis. Wide Receivers Coach Robert Prince would fill in until Bevel could return.
Campbell will be taking his first full time head coaching job. Campbell took over in 2015 as the Interim Head Coach after Joe Philbin started the season 1-3 and was fired where he would post a 5-7 record. After the 2015 season, Campbell would return to New Orleans, 7 years after suiting up for the Saints to reunite with His former Head Coach Sean Payton and join his staff as the Assistant Head Coach and Tight Ends coach where he coached up until January 17th where he would coach
