A curious and fairly entertaining quartet of games from this past weekend, eh? I managed to watch the majority of all four games, and I found them pretty fun, even if my predictions or desires didn t pan out very well.
In short, I was a scant 1/4 on straight picks, only getting the Bills win right. It wasn t spectacular, but they had no major trouble bottling up that Ravens offense and punching their ticket to the big AFC dance.
As for the other AFC Division game, the Chiefs proved me wrong by not showing one bit of offensive rust or complacency. Honestly, early in the second quarter, when they went up 14-3, I thought the game was essentially over. But Cleveland showed some real pluck in that game, kept punching, and got themselves back in it. And when Mahomes went out, I thought the Browns might pull it off. Here we are, entering the conference championship games in the year 2021. Just a few short months ago, there was a ton of uncertainty around the likelihood of the season’s existence, but remarkably the NFL didn’t have to miss a game due to COVID-19. The divisional round was entertaining. The Bills advanced to the conference championship for the first time since 1994 after defeating the Ravens 17-3. Green Bay beat Los Angeles in the cold of Lambeau Field 32-18. The Chiefs narrowly defeated the Browns 22-17 after Pat Mahomes left the game with an injury, and Tom Brady will play in his 14th conference championship game after the Buccaneers defeated the Saints 30-20.
