Parole board allows release for Lima woman charged in daughter’s death

COLUMBUS The Ohio Parole Board has recommended a Lima woman be released from prison later this year after serving 14 1/2 years of a 15-year sentence in the 2007 death of her infant daughter.
The parole board recommended Kristen Jorris be released in September to finish the last six months of her sentence under what the board terms “transitional control.” Under that scenario, inmates are released under “closely monitored supervision and confinement in the community, such as a stay in a licensed halfway house or restriction to an approved residence on electronic monitoring in accordance with section 2967.26 of the Ohio Revised Code,” according to the board’s website.

Gordon Franklin was found guilty of fatally striking his daughter, Danielle, with a golf club as she slept. The first strike was enough to kill her, according to the Hamilton County Prosecutorâs Office, but he hit her multiple times.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Ohio Parole Board denied parole for the man convicted of killing two teenagers in the summer of 1981.
Thomas Gilbert has spent almost 40 years behind bars for the murders of Sandy Jo Hogue, 19, of Akron and Joanne Shafer, 15, of Stow.
The Ohio Parole Board said “release of the inmate into society would create undue risk to public safety”.
On August 12th, 1981, Hogue was working at an all-night convenience store in Akron, when Gilbert dragged her out of the store, raped and murdered her.
