The North Side-based Brother s Brother Foundation has started an emergency fund for the victims of the Chaplain Towers condominium tragedy in Surfside, Fla.
The 63-year-old Pittsburgh nonprofit guarantees that 100% of the money donated to the fund will go to those in need and not be spent on any overhead. BBF and its on-the-ground partner in Florida, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, are donating staff time and covering all administrative costs related to the effort.

Ohio Task Force 1 is deploying to assist with the structural collapse of the Champlain Towers South condominium in Surfside, Florida.
The Task Force was activated for deployment Wednesday and was fast-tracked to be on the road by 7 p.m. from its location in Vandalia, Ohi, according to the organization.
The team is being deployed with four other urban search and rescue teams.
About 80 members and several canine search teams with Ohio Task Force 1 are making the trip to Florida in order to assist in the ongoing search and rescue efforts.
The 12-story beachfront condo building partially collapsed on June 24. On Tuesday, searchers completed the sixth day of painstaking work since the collapse. The death toll from the collapse rose to 16, and 147 people are still unaccounted for.
