KENTUCKY (WFIE) - Gov. Andy Beshear announced 2,608 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 57 additional deaths on Friday afternoon.
Kentucky is reporting that 358,478 residents have tested positive since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. The positivity rate currently stands at 8.75% statewide.
As of Friday, 3,668 people have died across the commonwealth due to complications with COVID-19.
“Our declining positivity rate shows that Kentuckians are continuing to make those small sacrifices we’ve been talking about all year in order to protect each other until we get enough vaccines for everyone who wants one,” Gov. KENTUCKY (WFIE) - Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear gave a COVID-19 briefing Thursday.
Gov. Beshear announced some new regional facilities for vaccines in Kentucky. More will be announced the next two Thursdays.
Four new were announced this Thursday through Kroger. The first will start Feb. 2 in Lexington.
As for now, the sites are for 70 and older, but organizers are asked to reach into younger groups at end of each day so that nothing is wasted.
âBeginning Feb. 1, 2021, the COVID-19 vaccination priority will be phase 1B, people ages 70 or older, and all vaccination sites are asked to prioritize this population until further notice,â Gov. KENTUCKY (WFIE) - During the state’s coronavirus update, Gov. Andy Beshear announced 2,424 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 47 additional deaths on Wednesday afternoon.
Kentucky is reporting that 352,943 residents have tested positive since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. The positivity rate currently stands at 9.35% statewide.
As of Wednesday, 3,542 people have died across the commonwealth due to complications with COVID-19.
Beshear said he will announce more information on the state’s regional vaccine partners and the first Kroger Health regional vaccination center on Thursday.

KENTUCKY (WFIE) - Tuesday, Gov. Andy Beshear said he had a call today with the President’s COVID-19 team where he learned the federal government will increase each state’s supply of COVID-19 vaccines by 17%.
“That is a great start,” said Gov. Beshear. “The other thing they are doing is guaranteeing a minimum supply for three straight weeks. One of the tough things we’ve been dealing with is only knowing on a Tuesday what we would have the next week and not knowing what we would have in the weeks after.”
