Brother and sister charged following Limerick drugs seizure

A BROTHER and sister have been charged with drugs offences arising from seizures made during a major garda operation in Limerick city nearly two years ago.
Owen Treacy, aged 25, of St Ita s Street, Saint Mary s Park, Limerick and Stephanie Treacy, aged 28, of the Path, Garryowen were released on bail when they appeared before a special court sitting in Ennis the weekend.
Each face eight charges including possession of quantities of heroin, cocaine, Alprazolam tablets and cannabis for the purpose of sale or supply.
The drugs were seized at St Munchin s Street, St Mary s Park on August 2, 2019 during an operation involving members of the divisional Drugs Unit and the Criminal Assets Bureau.

The husband of famous Limerick EuroMillions winner Dolores McNamara has died.
The High Court is expected tomorrow to order the extradition of a criminal who is suspected of involvement in the 2003 gangland slaying of Limerick crime boss Kieran Keane to English authorities who want to charge him with the murder of a man in Essex last year.
Keith McCarthy (41), who is also known as Keith Galvin, was arrested on foot of a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) in December in connection with the murder of talented chef Kerrin Repman (29) who was killed when his motorbike was hit by a BMW in a targeted crash in Harwich, Essex, on April 15 last.
A 79-year-old woman who happened to be walking past at the time, suffered multiple broken limbs in the horrific incident which is not being treated as ‘road rage’.

A man who was being questioned about the gangland murder of Kieran Keane and the attempted murder of his nephew Owen Treacy almost 18 years ago has been released without charge.
Kieran Keane, 36, died after he was shot in the head in an execution-style killing near Drombanna on the outskirts of Limerick city on January 29, 2003.
Owen Treacy, who was 31 at the time, was stabbed 17 times and left for dead on a rural road.
The investigation is one of the largest ever launched in Limerick and yesterday gardai arrested a man in an Irish prison after they secured a warrant from a district court judge.
