Two fire engines remained at the scene of a building fire in Royton this morning (Monday).
Crews were damping down the scene and working with the building owner to remove materials from inside the building so firefighters could tackle deep seated hotspots.
Nearby businesses were not affected.
Firefighters expect to be at the scene for a number of days.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 6.36pm last night (Sunday) to reports of a building fire on Meek Street.
On arrival, crews from Oldham and Rochdale found the building, which contains what is believed to be recycling materials, well alight.

Detectives have launched a murder investigation after the discovery of a body in West Yorkshire of a man believed to be from Manchester.
At around 6.40am on Thursday morning (May 13), police in West Yorkshire attended reports of a body found off Pike End Road in Rishworth, Calderdale.
Formal identification has yet to take place but he is believed to be a man in his 20s from the Manchester area, who was linked to a disturbance on Delaunays Road, Crumpsall, at around 3.40am on Thursday, May 13.

On Saturday (May 22), Manchester will mark four years since the terrorist attack in which 22 people were killed after an Ariana Grande concert.
As pandemic-related restrictions will remain in place there will be limited scope for gathering, but the anniversary will be marked with acts of remembrance during the morning (9am) and evening (4.30pm) prayer services at Manchester Cathedral, during which the names of those who lost their lives will be read out.

The family of a man from Manchester whose body was found in West Yorkshire last Thursday have paid tribute to him.
At around 6.40am on Thursday (May 13, 2021), police in West Yorkshire attended reports of a body found off Pike End Road in Rishworth, Calderdale.
Formal identification has since taken place and has been confirmed as that of 29-year-old Rhys Thompson from the Moss Side area.
A murder investigation was launched by GMP s Major Incident Team and specialist officers are supporting Rhys s family at this distressing time.
