The Tesco Extra store in Failsworth is celebrating the impact it has made in the local community, having provided 59,747 meals worth of surplus food to local groups since it started working alongside FareShare in 2012.
Rose Knipe, Community Champion at Failsworth Extra, reflected on the store s commitment to community, saying that its contributions are extremely important to local groups.
On top of the food, distributed through food charity FareShare, as part of the Tesco Community Food Connection scheme, Tesco Failsworth has also pledged their support to organisations across the area through contributions of care hampers, local litter picks, and cash donations, amongst numerous other services.

Newly re-elected Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham wants Baroness Beverley Hughes to continue in her role as the region’s deputy mayor.
Baroness Hughes has served as Mr Burnham’s number two since he was first elected in 2017.

Oldham West and Royton MP Jim McMahon has welcomed the news that Councillor Arooj Shah has been elected as the new leader of Oldham’s Labour Group and therefore set to be confirmed as council leader on May 19.
Mr McMahon, himself a former Council Leader before Jean Stretton took over after his election as MP, has backed Cllr Shah to guide Oldham residents towards better times ahead.
“I am immensely proud that Cllr Arooj Shah is set to become the Leader of Oldham Council with Cllr Amanda Chadderton serving as a new Deputy Leader, alongside Cllr Abdul Jabbar, said Mr McMahon.

Last week, forces across the country came together for a week of intense action to help tackle knife crime.
Throughout the week-long campaign, which is known as Operation Sceptre, 93 knives were taken off the streets of Greater Manchester, and 37 arrests were made.
The week s activity included educational talks in schools and colleges with hundreds of students, stop and search activity, knife sweeps, high visibility patrols, warrants, and visits to known habitual knife carriers, all of which contributed to these results.
