OL8 postcode is in crash for cash scam top 15 Date published: 17 May 2021 Crash for cash is a kind of insurance fraud in which fraudsters fake or deliberately cause traffic accidents in order to make claims against other drivers The Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) has released a list of postcode areas that it believes to be the worst affected by ‘crash for cash’ insurance scams, and OL8 is ranked at number 14. The OL8 postcode roughly covers the top of Manchester Road in Oldham, Werneth and Hollins areas. The top three rankings went to postcodes in Birmingham - B25, B34 and B8.

A woman was hospitalised after a domestic stabbing attack at a house on Clyde Street in Oldham. Police were called yesterday morning (Sunday) after a 40-year-old woman was found with stab wounds. She went into hospital and was in a serious but non life-threatening condition, police said. A GMP spokesperson said: Police were called shortly after 8.40am by NWAS on Sunday 16 May to a report of an earlier domestic stabbing at an address on Clyde Street, Oldham. A 40-year-old woman has been taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening stab wounds. No arrests have been made and an investigation is underway, with two scenes in place in the vicinity of the incident.

David follows family tradition to reach 30-year Northern milestone Date published: 16 May 2021 David started work at Northern’s Newton Heath depot alongside his father in 1991 Trainer and assessor David Mayo has reached his 30-year milestone with Northern after following in father’s footsteps to work in rail.   David started work at the rail operator’s Newton Heath depot alongside his father in 1991 as an engineering apprentice.  David is now a technical trainer and assessor, supporting and mentoring apprentices.  He said: “To still be working at the same location as when I first started 30 years ago is surreal - to think that I have spent over half of my life travelling to the same place, with all my career being at Newton Heath depot.”
