Updated Mar 16, 2021;
The city of Bethlehem is working to find a new grocery store to replace one of the Southside’s two major grocery stores, which is closing at the end of April.
For about 20 years, Ahart’s Market, 410 Montclair Ave., has been a vital source of high-quality and affordable food for residents of South Bethlehem and neighboring Fountain Hill.
News broke last week that Ahart’s would be closing, leaving South Bethlehem with C-Town Supermarket as its only full-service grocery, prompting a groundswell of community support urging the city to offer incentives to attract another grocery store.
