A resident of the Ramada Inn in Bangor has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to a storage shed at Fielder’s Choice Ice Cream on Sunday. Michael Benfield, formerly of Tacoma, Washington, is charged with arson and burglary for the fire that destroyed the building on Odlin Road in Bangor.

MRC hears concerns about Hampden plant’s future ELLSWORTH — Public comments at a March 25 board meeting of the Municipal Review Committee (MRC) aired concerns over how the former Coastal Resources of Maine solid waste processing facility in Hampden will operate once its purchase by Delta Thermo Energy Inc. is complete. Board members had earlier announced a delay in closing on the purchase, originally scheduled for the end of March, as negotiations between the MRC, Delta Thermo and the facility’s bondholders continue. The plant was placed in receivership in mid-2019. MRC Board President Karen Fussell said the sale to Delta Thermo would now take place in late May or June.
