The state Department of Environmental Protection announced that it is 91 percent of the way toward meeting its carbon neutrality target<b> </b>by 2045. But the state still has a way to go before reaching its other climate goals.
Maine also has met the first of its four climate goals by reducing gross greenhouse gas emissions by 30% from 1990 levels, well ahead of its 10% goal by 2020, but it has a long way to go meet a 45% cut by 2030.
At last week's town meeting, residents approved of the proposed municipal and school budgets, elected new town officials and decided against tweaking administrative procedure. On Tuesday, voters go to the polls.
The town says the project will broaden the commercial tax base while some residents say it will hurt other local businesses and they don't like that it would be open around the clock.
