NEW DELHI: In a welcoming move, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that students who are preparing for medical and engineering entrance exams and have lost their parents or earning members of the family owing to the COVID-19 pandemic will be provided with free coaching and accommodation in Kota, Rajasthan.
According to reports, MP Birla held a meeting with the directors of coaching institutes in the city and requested them to come forward to help the needy in these challenging times, his office said in a statement.

Update 7.30 PM: A special CBI court has granted interim bail to all four accused Firhad Hakim, Subrata Mukherjee, Madan Mitra and Sovan Chatterjee in connection with the Narada probe. As per journalists, the CBI had sought a 14 day judicial custody of all four accused, which was rejected.

In the first COVID-19 wave mostly urban areas were affected, but this time a large number of cases are being reported from rural areas and some villages have registered over 25 per cent positivity rate, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said on Friday. He also called for establishing a healthcare network at the village level so that a person suffering from the coronavirus disease can be provided adequate medical care near his house.
