Very severe cyclone Yaas made landfall in Balasore in Odisha on Wednesday. TPCODL and TPNODL has mobilised over 13,000 workers at different sites to ensure the quick restoration of power supply in the severely-affected areas, Tata Power said in a statement. ?TP Northern Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPNODL) and TP Central Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPCODL) are joint ventures between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha. ?The places that were projected to fall in the path of the cyclone were mostly the northern and central areas of Odisha, it said. ?TPNODL has been severely impacted and an assessment of the damage is in progress, while power restoration process has started in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapatra towns. TPCODL teams have also ?carried out regular checks through patrolling among the damaged areas.

Tata Power Ltd. has taken over the management and operations of NESCO (North Eastern Electricity Supply Company of Odisha) upon completion of the sale process, the company announced on Thursday.
Now, NESCO will operate under the company name TP Northern Odisha Distribution Ltd. (TPNODL).
As per order issued by the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC), Tata Power holds 51% of equity with management control and the State-owned GRIDCO will have 49% equity stake in the company.
TP Northern Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPNODL) will now be responsible for the distribution and retail supply of electricity in five circles of NESCO covering close to two million consumers with annual input energy of 5450 MUs in areas of Balasore, Bhadrak, Baripada, Jajpur and Keonjhar.

Tata Power on Thursday reported 22 per cent year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit for October-December quarter at Rs 318 crore on debt reduction, better performance of Mundra plant and steady operational performance across all businesses.
The company s revenue rose 7.5 per cent to Rs 7,598 crore during the December quarter. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 1 per cent to Rs 1,997 crore from Rs 1,970 crore in the year-ago quarter.
The company has expanded its consumer base to 95 lakh from the present base of 52 lakh.
