Death of Markham woman in Jamaica being investigated as homicide: police

Last Updated Monday, January 25, 2021 5:03AM EST A 43-year-old Markham woman who was murdered in Jamaica last week is being remembered by her friends as a loving person who championed her Caribbean culture. Tashia Antoine described her god-sister and friend Latoya Alcindor as a vibrant person, a caring mother to her two daughters, and a prominent member of the Caribbean community in the Toronto area. She was seen as a cultural ambassador, where she promoted Caribbean culture to Toronto and the world, Antoine said in an interview with CTV News. She promoted Caribbean culture her entire life, and she was always a part of the Caribana parade since she was a young child.

Patrick Spence Thirty-six-year-old electrician, Everett Duncan of Greenwich Park, St. Ann, has been charged with murder after he reportedly confessed to the killing of 38-year-old plumber Patrick Spence, otherwise called ‘Andy’ of Bounty Hall, Trelawny. Spence was reported missing on Friday after numerous attempts by his relatives to contact him failed. He was last seen on CCTV entering a friend’s car on Thursday, October 8, at a supermarket in Falmouth after parking his own vehicle.  Spence was later found dead along a dirt track in Runaway Bay, St. Ann, with several stab wounds to the body and the throat slashed.
