The Nigeria Labour Congress in Ondo State has demanded the suspension of the Senior Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor On Special Duty, Dr Doyin Odebowale, for slapping a pregnant woman, Mrs Adeola Egbebi, at Oja Oba market in Akure.
The NLC vowed to commence a protest by Monday until the power-drunk SSA is removed from office for slapping the woman, which led to her slumping.

The Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges have directed the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Col Hameed Ali (rtd.) to ensure that officers of the service return bags of rice and money seized from shops in popular Oja Oba market in Ibadan, during a raid.
This followed a petition by Senator Kola Balogun who represents Oyo South Senatorial District complaining of the seizures.
The petition according to Senator Balogun was on behalf of the affected traders who said their shops were raided during which bags of rice and money were collected.
Following the petition, the Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Lawan, had referred the matter to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions to carry out an investigation on the allegation of looting by the Customs.

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi on Friday apologized to all the victims of rights violations in the state, expressing the hope that the steps taken to remedy the situation would ameliorate what they have suffered psychologically and physically.
Fayemi said this while receiving the final report of the State Judicial Panel of Inquiry into an allegation of Human Rights Violation Against Police Officers including Officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and other Persons.

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi on Friday promises to set up a citizens complaints centre and pay another N13.8m compensation to 28 victims.
The Governor received the final report from the State Judicial Panel of Inquiry into the allegation of Human Rights Violation against Police Officers, including Officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and other Persons with an assurance that his government would implement the decisions of the panel to the letter.
This came barely two months after the government paid compensation to the first batch of 24 victims as recommended by the panel.
The Governor, while receiving the report from the Chairman of the Panel, Justice Cornelius Akintayo (rtd) in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital noted that the outcome of the report was an opportunity for government to further strengthen its intervention in the promotion and protection of human rights in Ekiti State.
Former senator who represented the Kogi West Senatorial District during the 8th National Assembly, Senator Dino Melaye, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently address Nigerians on the state of security in the nation.
Dino, who made this known on Friday during a programme (Focus) on AIT, said Nigerians are no longer comfortable with statements from the presidency.
According to him, Nigerians voted for President Buhari and not Garba Shehu or any other media aide.
“They are to speak for the president when there is policy information, but in terms of interaction, we voted for President Buhari, not Garba Shehu.
