Four Buckeyes Earn All-Big Ten Accolades

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four members of the Ohio State women’s basketball team were among the players honored on Monday by the Big Ten Conference. The group was highlighted by junior forward Dorka Juhasz who was named first team All-Big Ten for the second consecutive season. Juhasz was named to the first team by the league’s 14 head coaches and was on the second team in the media vote. Sophomore guard Jacy Sheldon was a second team honoree by both the coaches and media while fellow sophomore guard Madison Greene garnered honorable mention honors. Freshman Kateri Poole was named the All-Big Ten Freshman Team by the coaches.

A goal by Wisconsin’s Lacey Eden, however, just 42 seconds into overtime lifted the second-ranked Badgers to a 3-2 victory at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis. “We battled. There were no excuses, it’s playoff hockey,” said head coach Nadine Muzerall. “You sell out and do everything you can and need to do. We did that. We had an opportunity to get the puck out twice – it bounced over a stick and then hit off a skate badly that kept it in. It’s unfortunate but Wisconsin capitalized on that.”

No 4 Ohio State Scores Season High at No 3 Nebraska

Share LINCOLN, Neb. – The No. 4 Ohio State men’s gymnastics team came up short to No. 3 Nebraska on Saturday, 411.100-406.700, at Bob Devaney Sports Center. It was the highest overall score for the Buckeyes this year. The Buckeyes posted season highs on pommel horse (67.050), floor (69.000), rings (68.350) and high bar (64.650). As a team, Ohio State secured a title on rings and had 10 podium finishes. Individually, Justin Ah Chow won the floor title with a career-high 14.650 while Donovan Hewitt scored a 14.100, a new personal best, to claim the crown on rings. Jesse Tyndall posted a season-high 14.150 to win on high bar. The Buckeyes started the meet on pommel horse, where Ah Chow received a score of 13.750 to come in third. Nebraska’s Cooper Giles won the event behind a 14.400.

Buckeyes Win the Opener in 13 Innings, Beating Illinois 6-3

Buckeyes Drop 2-0 Decision to No 9 Maryland

Share VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Despite outshooting Maryland 10-6 and holding a 10-2 edge in penalty corners, the Ohio State field hockey team fell 2-0 to the Terrapins on Friday afternoon at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex. The Buckeyes are 0-2 in the season while Maryland improves to 2-1. The Buckeyes had an edge in nearly every statistical category, generating more offense and more penalty corners but failing to put one past Terrapin goalkeeper Noelle Frost. Maryland scored just 3:54 into the first quarter when Kyler Greenwalt received a feed from Brooke DeBerdine and put one in from in front of the goal. That early 1-0 Terrapin lead would hold up for the next 55 minutes until Riley Donnelly scored on a penalty stroke with 57 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to make the score 2-0.
