Championship Central – Diving
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State’s contingent of men’s divers opened competition at the 2021 Big Ten Conference men’s diving championships Thursday evening at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center on the campus of Purdue University. All of the Big Ten’s diving championships will be contested this week, as is the women’s swimming championships in Minneapolis, with the men’s swimming championships taking place March 2-6 at Ohio State’s McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
Every one of the Buckeyes’ five divers scored points on the 1-meter event with NCAA A qualifying totals and four qualified for the eight-person finals competition with sophomore Lyle Yost finishing third with 388.35 points. This is Yost’s fourth podium finish in four competitions at the Big Ten championships. Last year as a freshman he won the Big Ten title on platform, placed second on the 1-meter and was third on the 3-meter.
COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State men’s hockey team wraps up Big Ten regular season play with a series at No. 5 Wisconsin this weekend.
The Buckeyes (6-15-1, 6-14-0-0-1-0 B1G) and Badgers (15-8-1, 13-6-1-0-1-0 B1G) will meet at 8 p.m. ET Friday and 5 p.m. ET Saturday in La Bahn Arena in Madison, Wis.
Fox Sports Wisconsin will televise both games, with the Friday broadcast carried on SportsTime Ohio and on TSN2 in Canada. They will also be streamed on BTN Plus (for cable subscribers with BTN as part of their package). Ohio State Radio will cover the contests.

When Friday’s first pitch is thrown against the Hawkeyes, 354 days – almost a full calendar year – will have passed since the last time the Buckeyes took the field. They were 9-9 last season before the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the remainder of the season on March 12.
Ohio State returns its top five hitters and three of its starting pitchers from last season. They also added eight freshmen to the 2021 roster.
The player with the most game experience heading into the season is senior Niki Carver, who has started 107 of the 114 career games that she’s played in.
